Rudy Autio
Rudy Autio was a groundbreaking Montana ceramic artist and sculptor born in Butte in 1926. A co-founder of the Archie Bray Foundation and longtime head of ceramics at the University of Montana, he helped elevate ceramics into the world of fine art. Known for colorful figurative vessels featuring horses and human forms, Autio became one of America’s most influential ceramic artists before his death in 2007.
