Gennie DeWeese
Gennie DeWeese was an influential Montana artist and educator known for her expressive scroll paintings featuring abstracted domestic scenes and bold patterns. Born in Indianapolis in 1921, she studied at Ohio State University and later taught and worked extensively in Montana. DeWeese earned numerous honors, including a Governor’s Award for the Arts and an honorary doctorate. She passed away in 2007 at age 86.
